She currently serves on the Bryan ISD Education Foundation Board; as chair of the Education Committee of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), Brazos County Branch; and continues to mentor college and medical students. Ms. Watson has been an active parent/participant on several BISD boards and committees, such as Bryan High School Parents Advisory Board; Site-based Management Team, (BISD); PTSO Executive Board; and Volunteers in Public Schools coordinator, Lamar Campus–BHS. Her community and civic engagement included Bethune Woman's Club, North Bryan Community Center, the United Way of the Brazos Valley, and African American Heritage Planning Committee for the George Bush Library and Museum.
During her professional career, Ms. Watson was a member of several professional organizations, including the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC), represented the TAMU College of Medicine as the minority affairs officer, and was a member of the Texas Association of Advisors for the Health Professions (TAAPH).
Prior to her service on the Brazos County Commissioners Court, she served as the Brazos County Democratic Party Chairwoman.
